Herbs for brain health
Every day we use different spices in order to flavor up our meals, and many of them also offer a variety of health benefits. But, adding only a pinch of a herb or spice to your meals won’t help you benefit from it. Pills and supplements work best if you really want to improve your health and fight inflammation.
Some studies showed that ginger can relieve morning sickness and neutralize the side-effects of chemotherapy. It was also found that ginger extract works far better than Dramamine in cases of motion sickness. Add ¼-1 teaspoon of ginger extract in a pot of water and drink the tea with some honey. Even though sage is pretty much safe for use, high amounts of it have been known to cause seizures. It has been used to boost brain health for centuries. If you are using the herb against Alzheimer’s and memory loss, take 30 drops of sage extract a few times a day. If you have a sore throat, gargle a bit of sage tea 2-3 times during the day.
It has many antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties. Garlic extract has been found to prevent atherosclerosis by lowering the levels of LDL cholesterol bit by bit. You need 200-300 mg. of garlic supplements per day to achieve this. Do not take it if you are on aspirin or warfarin as it can thin the blood and cause blood loss.
It can relieve pain caused by arthritis, osteoarthritis and other inflammatory conditions. You only need a small amount of turmeric powder per meal in order to reduce inflammation.
It can treat a variety of digestive problems. Its capsules go directly in the intestines where they provide a soothing, antispasmodic effect. Use a few cups of peppermint tea a day in cases of IBS, or take 1-3 peppermint coated capsules for the same purpose. You can also use peppermint essential oil.
