About Us
Last updated 26 September 2026
Live Health is an independent, US-only recall tracker. We collect every recall and enforcement report published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS), and turn that raw government data into pages you can actually use: recalls by product, brand, company, store, reason and state, updated twice a day.
Why this site exists
Recall information in the United States is public, but it is scattered. The FDA publishes a weekly Enforcement Report as a database, the USDA publishes meat and poultry notices on a separate site, and neither lets you ask simple questions such as “has anything from this store been recalled this month?” or “is this brand of eggs affected?”. News coverage picks up the biggest recalls and misses the rest. We built Live Health so that anyone can check a product, a brand or a store in seconds and see the official record behind it.
What we cover
- Food: FDA-regulated foods, dietary supplements, infant formula and pet food from the FDA Enforcement Report, plus meat, poultry and egg product recalls and Public Health Alerts from USDA FSIS.
- Drugs: prescription and over-the-counter medicines, including compounded products, from the FDA Enforcement Report.
- Medical devices: device recalls classified by the FDA, from infusion pumps and CPAP machines to test kits and implants.
Coverage runs from 2012 to today and grows with every sync. We track the United States only; we do not cover Health Canada, the UK MHRA or EU RASFF notices.
How we work
Every record is pulled directly from the agency source and stored with its recall number, event ID, classification, status, distribution pattern, lot codes and dates. A rule-based classifier then files it by product category, reason (Listeria, Salmonella, undeclared allergen, foreign material and so on), any named retailers and the states it reached. Titles are written from the record itself so that the product name comes first. Nothing is rewritten by hand and nothing is invented: if a field is missing from the government record, it is missing here too. The full methodology, including its limits, is on How we track recalls.
Each recall page links to the official FDA or USDA notice, states the source and the date we last checked it, and shows the raw description so you can judge the classification for yourself.
Who runs it
The site is edited by Sarah, who is responsible for the data pipeline, the classification rules, reader corrections and the weekly round-up. Sarah reviews the largest recalls each week against the agency press releases, adds classifier rules when a product or reason is being mis-filed, and answers every correction request. She is not a physician and does not give medical advice; see the disclaimer. You can reach her at [email protected].
Independence and funding
Live Health is not affiliated with, endorsed by or funded by the FDA, the USDA, any manufacturer or any retailer. The site is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no influence over which recalls are listed, how they are described or where they appear; recall pages are generated from the data and are not edited for commercial reasons. We do not accept payment to remove or alter a recall record.
Corrections
If a recall is filed under the wrong product, brand, store or reason, or if a company name is misspelled, email [email protected] with the recall number shown on the page. Classification errors are usually fixed within two working days. We cannot change the underlying agency record; if the FDA or USDA notice itself is wrong, we will tell you how to contact the agency.
