WASHINGTON, Dec. 31, 2023 – Valley Meats, LLC, a Coal Valley, Ill. establishment, is recalling approximately 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The raw ground beef items were produced on December 22, 2023. Some strains of E. coli, such as O157:H7, produce a toxin that can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and, in a small number of cases, kidney failure.
