Harvesting Bamboo

Processing the Bamboo

Once the bamboo has been harvested, it is cut into smaller pieces and then split into thin strips. These strips are then boiled to remove any insects, bacteria, or sugars from the bamboo. After boiling, the strips are dried in the sun or a kiln to remove any remaining moisture.

Creating the Board

The dried bamboo strips are then glued together under high pressure to create a solid board. The orientation of the strips can vary depending on the desired look of the cutting board. For example, some cutting boards have a vertical grain, while others have a horizontal grain.
