Reason for recall

Potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. “This is an update to the company’s press release, previously issued on 10/09/2026, to clearly explain the correct recalled product.” Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. of Brooklyn, New York, is voluntarily recalling STARFISH SEAFOOD PREMIUM COLD SMOKED NORWEGIAN SALMON SLICED (227g/8oz) packages, because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The STARFISH SEAFOOD PREMIUM COLD SMOKED NORWEGIAN SALMON SLICED (227g/8oz) product was distributed in New York, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes was identified by sampling of the product conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. As a result,

Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigerator temperatures. Infection is most dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can appear up to 70 days after eating contaminated food.
